Scenic Photography Workshop in Keswick with Simon Waldram Photography
Explore the Lake District Through Your Lens | Autumn Landscape Photography Experience
Join Simon Waldram Photography for a two-day immersive photography workshop in the heart of the Lake District. Based in the charming town of Keswick, this hands-on experience is designed for photographers of all levels who want to capture the stunning beauty of autumn in one of the UK’s most iconic natural landscapes.
Thursday: Arrival and Immersing Yourself in the Lake District
Your adventure begins in Keswick, a vibrant market town surrounded by mountains and lakes. After checking into your accommodation, you’ll meet Simon Waldram and your fellow participants for a warm welcome and an overview of the weekend ahead.
The first shoot takes place at Derwent Water, where tranquil reflections and vibrant autumn colours offer a peaceful introduction to the Lake District’s visual magic. You’ll explore composition, light, and creative angles in a relaxed setting.
Next, you’ll visit the iconic Ashness Bridge, followed by a short walk to Surprise View—an elevated vantage point offering sweeping panoramas of the valley and lakes below. These locations are ideal for capturing the grandeur of the landscape.
As the day winds down, you’ll head to Castlerigg Stone Circle for a sunset shoot. If the skies are clear, there may be an opportunity for night photography, capturing stars above the ancient stones in a truly atmospheric setting.
Friday: Lakes, Passes, and Woodland Valleys
The day begins early with a visit to Ullswater, where the still waters reflect surrounding hills and golden foliage. A nearby boathouse adds a charming focal point to your compositions.
From there, you’ll travel to Honister Pass, a rugged mountain route offering dramatic scenery and bold contrasts—perfect for capturing the raw beauty of the Lake District.
After lunch, you’ll explore Buttermere, a peaceful village surrounded by countryside and mountains. This location is ideal for capturing intimate scenes and rural charm.
In the afternoon, you’ll venture into Borrowdale Valley, a woodland area rich with waterfalls, leaf-covered paths, and vibrant autumn colours. It’s a magical setting for nature and detail photography.
The day concludes with a return to Derwent Water for a golden hour shoot featuring the iconic wooden rowing boats. This final session offers a chance to reflect on your progress and capture one last memorable image before heading home.
