Glencoe Photography Workshop Itinerary

🗓 Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Arrival + Sunset Shoot

  • Check-in & orientation

  • Sunset shoot: Rannoch Moor & Buachaille Etive Mòr

  • Image review & gear prep

Day 2: Iconic Highlands

  • Sunrise shoot: River Coupall & Buachaille Etive Mòr

  • Glencoe Lochan (woodland/loch reflections)

  • Sunset shoot: Three Sisters Viewpoint

  • Group image critique

Day 3: Hidden Gems

  • Sunrise shoot: Loch Achtriochtan

  • Hike to the Lost Valley (or Signal Rock Forest)

  • Sunset shoot: Glen Etive drive + Loch Etive

  • Optional: Astrophotography session (weather dependent)

Day 4: Final Shoot & Departure

  • Sunrise shoot: Castle Stalker or alternate location

  • Portfolio review, Lightroom tips, Q&A

  • Departure

🏃‍♂️ Fitness Level

  • Moderate
    Most locations are roadside or short walks (<15 minutes).
    One optional moderate hike to the Lost Valley (~2 hrs round trip, uneven rocky path with light scrambling).
    Participants should be able to walk on uneven terrain and handle early mornings.

  • Beginner to intermediate landscape photographers

    • You know how to use your camera in manual/semi-auto mode.

    • You want to improve composition, use of light, and storytelling.

  • Photographers looking to build a strong Highland portfolio

  • Those comfortable with tripod-based shooting in variable weather

  • DSLR, mirrorless, and even advanced smartphone photographers are welcome.

Not suitable for complete beginners who have never used manual settings or post-processing software – a basic understanding is recommended.
