NORTH YORKSHIRE COASTAL WORKSHOP 16TH TO 18TH MAY 2026

£350.00

North Yorkshire Coast Photography Workshop

Whitby • Staithes • Robin Hood’s Bay
Led by Simon Waldram Photography

Discover three of the most atmospheric coastal villages in England through a focused, creative three-day photography experience. This workshop gives you the time and space to immerse yourself in Whitby, Staithes, and Robin Hood’s Bay — each explored in depth over a dedicated full day.

Designed for photographers who love mood, story, and expressive coastal light, this experience blends hands-on instruction with the freedom to develop your own visual style in three truly iconic locations.

What This Workshop Offers

A complete creative journey across three distinct coastal environments. You’ll learn to master long exposures, build expressive compositions, work with changeable weather, and shape atmospheric tones — all with calm, personalised guidance.

This is not a rushed tour. It’s a slow, intentional exploration of place, light, and creative expression.

Whitby

Historic streets, elevated views, dramatic harbour geometry, and the commanding presence of Whitby Abbey. You’ll explore how to capture the town’s layered architecture, dynamic coastline, and shifting light from day into evening.

Staithes

A village defined by its steep cliffs, tight-knit cottages, and ever-changing harbour. From sweeping viewpoints to intimate details, Staithes teaches you how to balance complexity, manage contrast, and build images with mood and structure.

Robin Hood’s Bay

Characterful cobbles, tidal foregrounds, weathered sea walls, and wide coastal views. The perfect setting for long exposures, minimalist shoreline studies, and atmospheric storytelling that blends history with raw coastline.

Why Join Simon Waldram Photography

Simon brings deep local knowledge, years of coastal shooting experience, and a calm, supportive teaching style. His understanding of tides, light, and composition across these villages means you’re always positioned to make the most of each location.

Guidance is personal and practical — shaped around how you shoot, what gear you use, and the style you want to develop. You’ll leave with stronger skills, a clearer creative direction, and a cohesive collection of images built over three meaningful days.

Create Work That Means Something

By giving each village a full day, this workshop encourages you to slow down, explore deeply, and build photographs that go beyond the standard viewpoint. Expect images with texture, story, atmosphere, and a sense of place.
