This isn’t a rigid schedule—it’s your passport to some of the darkest, most spectacular skies on the continent. We chase light, composition, and inspiration, not the clock.
Arrive in Moab and settle in. We gather the first evening to break down night photography essentials—settings, focus, working with subtle light—then head straight for Dead Horse Point. We watch the sun paint the canyon and the Colorado River gold, then linger as the stars spill across the sky. No rush, no fixed shots—just find your rhythm, watch the darkness deepen, and shoot until you’re ready to call it a night.
We let the moon and weather guide our rhythm. Mornings are yours to rest, explore, or review at your own pace. Afternoons we dive in—master PhotoPills so you can plan the galaxy’s appearance anywhere, learn to pull every detail from your files, and trade ideas and progress freely. Then we go where the light is best: Balanced Rock rising beneath the southern sky, Mesa Arch glowing under the midnight Milky Way, Double Arch framing the galactic core like a cathedral window. We wander, experiment, reposition, and stay as long as the scene holds magic.
The darkest night—new moon, June 22—is our peak. We hike up to Delicate Arch together, then spread out to capture it your way: a sweeping arch of the Milky Way, sharp deep-sky stars, or smooth luminous trails circling overhead. No two shots will look the same, and that’s exactly the point.
Then we drive south to Monument Valley and check in right on the rim. The night of the 23rd is unforgettable: we join our guide and head into the protected backcountry most people never see. We catch the core rising beside the Totem Pole and sacred spires, then move to hidden arches where we paint the stone gently with light. We follow the darkness, moving when the moment feels right, returning only when the sky begins to pale.
The final night is pure freedom. Step onto your balcony, watch the Mittens stand bold against a crystal-clear sky, and shoot until you’re satisfied. Spend your days however you please—browse handwoven jewelry, taste traditional Navajo tacos, or simply sit and watch the light change across the valley.
