Capture Autumn Light & Starry Skies in Slovenia
Join us for an immersive photography workshop focused on autumn landscapes and astrophotography across some of Europe’s most spectacular terrain. This is a fully weather-led experience — no rigid timetable, no fixed daily schedule. We read the forecasts, watch the light, and take you where conditions will deliver the best results every time.
Locations We Hope to Shoot
We will photograph across Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj, the Soča Valley, the Julian Alps and high alpine passes, and the Kamnik–Savinja Alps.
How We Work
We select our exact locations each evening based on detailed weather forecasts — cloud, mist, wind, moon phase, and sky clarity. If a valley fills with mist, that is where we head. If a pass clears above the clouds, we go there. If skies are dark and clear, we position ourselves for astrophotography. We shoot sunrise, golden hour, sunset, blue hour, and night skies — timing our days around the best light, not the clock. Short walks and drives take us to viewpoints above valleys, beside rivers, and across mountain ridges.
Who This Is For
This workshop is for landscape photographers looking to capture autumn colour, atmospheric light, and dramatic mountain scenery, and for anyone wanting to learn or develop astrophotography under expert guidance. All skill levels are welcome — from those new to working in manual mode through to advanced photographers. You should be comfortable rising before dawn and staying out after dark to make the most of light conditions.
Fitness Level
Walking is gentle to moderate on clear, well-defined paths. Typical walks are one to three hours round trip with steady elevation gain — there is no scrambling or technical terrain. Good general fitness is needed; you should be comfortable walking for extended periods in variable mountain weather. We move at a considered pace, with plenty of stops to photograph.
What’s Included
Your workshop includes expert tuition, guidance, and image review throughout your stay, all accommodation for the duration of the workshop, complimentary airport pickup and all ground transport during the workshop, daily location planning and weather-led route selection, one-to-one and group guidance on composition, camera settings, filters, and astrophotography techniques, post-processing tips and sessions, and use of selected demonstration gear where available.
What’s Not Included
Not included are flights and travel to and from Ljubljana, meals, drinks, and personal expenses, travel insurance — which is mandatory and all participants must have valid cover — your personal photography equipment, and any additional excursions or activities not listed as part of the workshop.
Travel & Arrival
Flights are into Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, Slovenia’s main international airport and our arrival point. Direct flights are available from major UK and European hubs, typically two to three hours from the UK. We collect everyone from the airport at 3:00 PM on the start date — transfers are included with no extra charge. Departure flights should be booked for any time from midday onwards on the final day.
